For those who don't know yet, at Smyle, we make toothpaste in the form of a tablet. This way, you can brush your teeth without having to throw away that nasty, impossible-to-recycle tube every time. Smyle is delivered to your home for free and CO2 neutral, so you always have enough and don’t need to go to the store for your toothpaste.

Our small, but oh so powerful white pearls are stored in a beautiful glass bottle. You refill it each time with a fresh batch of tablets, directly from the 100% Dutch Smyle Factory.

But what do you actually call such a tablet? We had to think about that for a while.

Yes, it’s a toothpaste tablet, but it’s also called a toothpaste pill, brush mint, or toothpaste tab. We thought and still think that "toothpaste pill" sounds a bit too clinical. Who wants to take a "pill" twice a day when you’re perfectly healthy?

"Brush mints" sounds nice, but it kind of makes you think of candies. And as we all know, candies are not good for your teeth. Of course, Smyle contains no sugar, the Academy of Dentistry Amsterdam is already on board with us. That’s why we didn’t think "brush mints" was the perfect name either.

We also briefly considered the term "toothpaste tabs," as it’s short for tablets and is mainly used for similar products in the English-speaking world. But in the end, we decided to go with toothpaste tablets or tabletjes for the Dutch market.

If you think you can come up with a better name than toothpaste tablet, toothpaste pill, brush mint, or tab, we’re definitely open to suggestions! The person who comes up with a genius new Smyle name will win a lifetime of free brushing, or a free elephant.
